Hows and whys.
I’m a writer with a background in global branding, a fascination for creative process, and a deep appreciation of art, nature and heritage. If you are a designer, creative, artist, destination or brand who needs to articulate a vision, an aesthetic style or an elusive feeling, we’ll be a good fit.
Blending intelligent strategy with creative flair, I bring valuable perspective and nuance to every project. I have a keen eye for intentional detail, and a turn of phrase that can make a heart skip a beat. We’ll always agree the message and tone before I write, so I rarely receive more than the lightest of tweaks when I submit copy to clients. Where do I stand on AI? It has many great uses for speeding up processes and brainstorming, for sure. But it is soulless, and can unwittingly plagiarise, so it doesn’t serve the way I like to write and I choose not to use it for creating copy.
If you are planning a new brand or website, it’s a good idea to speak to me before appointing your designer, web developer or other visual creative, so I can help you write an effective strategy and brief. I coordinate seamless projects from start to finish in partnership with my recommended designers and developers, or I’m happy to collaborate with your team.
All my projects begin with a simple conversation, where we can discuss the lay of the land and how I might best support you. Many of my clients go on to work with me for years, dipping in and out as needed.
I’d love to hear from you if you have questions, please get in touch.

A few of my favourite things.
Exploring 19th and 20th century literature, art, design, architecture and gardens. I’m no expert, but it gives me context for my own creativity.
Going to the theatre, especially musicals. Theatre is where the magic happens. If you think you don’t like musicals, you just haven’t met the right one yet.
Pottering in my cottage garden, welcoming weeds, staying curious, seeing what thrives and then doing more of that.
Reading, especially about the female experience, families, art, nature and identity.
Independent bookshops, singing and dancing just for fun, the scent of rosemary, kindness, afternoon naps.
In 2022 I had a liver transplant. It taught me new levels of appreciation for life, creativity and my body. I take a deeper dive into all of these subjects on my Substack publication, A Body of Art.
